Malygos 10 man raid setup

Please enable JavaScript in your browser. Live PTR. Comments Comment by Icecoldcoke I guess I'll be the first to point out the obvious. Malygos is the only boss and only hostile creature in the Eye of Eternity 10 and 25man raid in Wrath of the Lich King. This raid is for level 80 players in almost to full naxxramas gear. They are both drops from Sapphiron, with the heroic key being from 25man Naxx, and the non-heroic key being from 10man Naxx.

The enouncter has three phases which present interesting challenges for the raid. His attacks hit hard, but the attack speed is slow. He does arcane breaths for X damage. Throughout the fight, power sparks come out of portals outside of the platform, they slowly move to Malygos, and if they hit him his next arcane breath does a VERY HIGH amount of damage, most likely one-shotting your tank.

It's important that they are killed before they hit him. When the power sparks are killed, they drop a small aura on the ground that increases your damage done.

The aura stacks, so if they all die in that same location, you can get very high hits off. Trick: The sparks can be "pulled" to your DPS with Death Grip, so it advisable to have a pre-assigned stack location for your raid, and have a Death Knight pull the sparks to that spot. Once pulled they are rootable to keep them in place while you kill them. Malygos also uses a cyclone ability that will pull the entire raid into the air and spin them around.

He will not attack your tank during this ability, however power sparks will continue to move toward him, make sure you kill them if they are going to get too close to him. Once this ability ends, Malygos will be facing in a random direction and your tank will also be in a random location, so it is vital to move intelligently at this point before he is once again facing your tank, as his breath will one-shot any dps or healers unlucky enough to be in the wrong place.

Malygos himself is not targetable during this phase, it will end when the adds he spawns are all killed. However, he does continue to play a part in the encounter. They shrink over time, so it's important that your raid moves to each new one he drops. The way the fight works during this phase is there are NPCs riding around on disks in the room. There are two types of mobs, Lords and Scions. The Lords will move down onto the group, and need to be tanked They will one-shot a non-tank.

After they die, they drop a disk that a raid member can mount onto, which allows them to fly, to attack the Scions that do not come down to the ground. It is recommended to let melee take the first disks, then ranged. As those mobs die, they also drop disks, which allows the rest of your dps to get onto them. The Scions will continually cast Arcane Blast on random targets on the floor, which is mitigated by the anti-magic zones. While mounted on a disk, you will not take damage.

After all of the NPCs riding on the disks die, the players on the disks need to dismount as Phase 3 is about to begin. Note: After all the Scions are dead, you will get a short burn period on Malygos before he breaks the floor.

Use any DPS increase cooldowns that are available at this time, as you will not be able to use them once you mount your dragon. Phase Three Phase Three begins when all of the Scions die the Lords should be killed first, so they must be killed as well. Malygos destroys the floor of the room, and the raid falls onto dragons. The dragons use combo points and energy sort of like a rogue. The combo points are used for special finishing moves.

Warning : You are now entering an unclear phase's description, where things may be wrong, and not the correct strategy. During this phase Malygos does - In Melee Range Heavy Melee Attacks and Cleaves RangedA high damage ranged ability The focusing mentioned below The dragons have 6 abilities: Flame Spike Damaging fire attack causing fire damage and awarding 1 combo point at the cost of 10 energy.

Engulf in Flames Finishing move which launches a blast of flame igniting target for fire damage every 3 seconds. The effect can stack and will last longer per combo point up to 22 seconds. Costs 50 energy. Revivify A HoT that lasts for 10 seconds healing per second and awarding 1 combo point at the cost of 10 energy.

Max combo points award a 15k heal over 25 seconds. Flame Shield Finishing move to protect your drake. Costs 25 energy with a 30 second cooldown. Though the strategy for this phase is still unclear, it is believed that each player should target themselves and stack up 5 revivifys granting 5 total combo points on themselves, and then they should use Life Burst.

In between keeping your Hots up you should be Flame Spike spamming malygos, after 5 combo points apply Engulf in Flames, then spam it more times. Whenever he sets his "focus" to you, it's important that you have 5 combo points on him, and use your shield hotkey 6.

It is believed you can also use the sprint hotkey 5 and outrange him before he begins channeling. Note: Remember to save 25 energy at all times to use your shield. If you are at 0 energy and targeted, you may be killed before you regen enough to use your shield. This is important as threat seems strange for this portion of the encounter and you may be targeted at any time. The End Then you just burn him until the end of the fight, where Alexstrasza enters and finishes the battle.

The loot for the fight comes from Alexstrasza's Gift, the fight rewards two badges. The exit portal respawns, and you can fly over to it. But the floor of the instance does not respawn. A shame that your excess courage does not compensate for your stupidity! Perhaps this is the work of Alexstrasza?

Well then, she has sent you to your deaths. Against ME? In this realm, I am in control Pledge loyalty to me, and perhaps I won't slaughter you for your insolence! None the less, your efforts are in vain, it is you reckless, careless mortals who are to blame for this war!

I do what I must And if it means your If you intend to reclaim Azeroth's magic, then you shall have it But they are too late. The powers contained here are powerful enough to destroy the world ten times over! What do you think they will do to you? Not for long Another of your brood falls! The mortals will destroy Comment by Kalecgos is another member of the Blue Dragonflight, Malygos was his "lord".

Phase 2 Adds - We have 3 Tanks for the melee adds, melees focus them, rogues get on the platforms first and stunning the caster, so you protect your raidmember from beeing focused. Phase 3 Never go into melee range to Malygos and get out of the coulds asap! We build 2 camps , one at the east an one in the south, we always fly left to avoid clouds. We used 5 Healers , that means, just hottig around an spamming heal ultimate, so your mates will only die on triple focus from Malygos without the absorbshield!

The other dragons just dps'n Malygos the key is stacking the dot asap, a 5cp dot only have an increased duration, not more dmg! Comment by reidsb Phase 3 can be practiced with the quest and unlocked daily Aces High! Comment by According to the tome Legacy of the Aspects, written by a human seeking knowledge amongst the night elves, Malygos does not have the form of a "typical dragon.

Particularly interesting are the words that follow. The human author writes, "Rarely seen after his retreat to the far north, he is almost always in the form of an insect-like creature, but while in dragon form he, and his flight, are varying blues in color.

Malygos has an extraordinary command over magic, and although he is not as powerful physically, his spellcasting more than counters that disadvantage. Malygos lives in a cave within Northrend, and his lair contains many arcane magical artifacts. Malygos and his flight search for any magical source and artifacts and protect them so that mortal races may not endanger the world with their reckless use.

With his flight nearly annihilated, Malygos began to lose his mind. He felt deep guilt for his role in convincing the other Aspects to infuse their powers into the Demon Soul. He traveled to his lair in Northrend, where he hid for millennia. Feelings of remorse paralyzed him. During the ten thousand years following The War of the Ancients, he was rarely seen by the other Aspects. His body was a caricature of his former self. A thin body surrounded by frozen ice, almost skeletal. Malygos is the oldest of the five Aspects, possibly the oldest dragon still living.

Comment by Phase 1 and 2 are pretty much tank and spank Phase 3 is a lil bit more of a learning curve. Comment by Stabb A few notes to the fellow rogues out there: If you're combat specced with Killing Spree, save Killing Spree until you're in the vortex! Comment by You have got to be kidding me.

Any1 mind explaining to me how you kill an Aspect? Seriously, an Aspect is the representative of all that it standas for. So, when you are killing him, you are killing mages On second thought Comment by Here is what my guild did for phase 3: We had one person put a mark above their head preferably something that sticks out like blue square and that individual flew behind Malygos.

Everyone else then clumps up on that person. Assign four dedicated healers, and one confident person who can call out when the lightning charge hits the group if they angle their camera in the right way you can call it out before it hits the group. The rest of the raid is on DPS.

For 10 man version have 2 healers instead of 4. Healers: Spam Revivify on yourself until you have 5 charges then hit Life Burst. Never stop this rotation. If all your healers stay alive throughout the fight you can heal through surges and don't even need to use Flame Shield but it never hurts to use it anyways. DPS: Use Flame Spikes and then 1 Engulf in Flames if you are confident you will never let your stack fall if you just use Flame Spikes than go ahead and do that.

But for simplicity sakes you should have enough time to be getting four Flame Spikes off. When Malygos shoots the electrical charge that does the AoE damage have someone call out to move. We move left counterclockwise around Malygos. So everytime we see the charge animation coming at us we call out Left.

It is important to always to clump up on the marked target after you move. Failing to do will mean some people won't be getting hit by Life Burst. Comment by There is currently a bug with this fight that occurs during the transition from phase 2 to phase 3 and into phase 3.

If a player does not deselect and retarget malygos once during this period they will be unable to use the flame shield drake ability that drastically reduces the damage from surge. This bug is easily avoidable, just deselect malygos, then reselect him and you're done, it only needs to be done once.

Malygos is no longer targetable during the transition from phase 2 to phase 3, and does not become targetable until shortly after he has finished positioning himself in phase 3. Comment by Sxeros Not straight-on post to the topic, but giving my opinions. As now Malygos slain, I can do nothing else but wait with impatience; when will Neltharion, also known as Deathwing, arrive?

Many of the greatest lore characters in Warcraft has already revealed theirselves in-game. Us, the one's who are in love with Warcraft lore, amongside hungry raiders, hopefully, are waiting for his arrival. With his children, Onyxia and Nefarian slain, he musn't be the most friendliest person, dragon, who will hopefully give more challenge than Malygos.

Gogo Dragonflights! Lestuniem of Moonglade. Comment by fadeaway Rogues : You can break out of his Vortex ability by using Killing Spree or Shadowstep as soon as you get thrown into the air, making it so you don't take any damage from it.

Warlocks : Set down a Demonic Circle near the center before the fight starts and teleport to it when the boss throws you up into Vortex , this will also prevent you from taking damage as well. Patch 3. Comment by Vlad Here is a quick guide for everyone who is in a guild with potential to someday go for Malygos : Go to Librarian Serrah This way you get gold and reputation, and the we can do Malygos easier on Phase 3 and hopefully not wipe once we get there to it Comment by Tarctics oh p3: Anyway is enogh when its used in right time when boss's beam HITS you non when he start cast it.

He cast 3 sec spell, then channel you for 4 sec. You must use 4 when he channels. You can use 4 after 2 sec of his channeling with just one combo point and survive withought troubles. You dont need help each other, just avoid big spheres. Comment by I'm not sure if it's only me it happens to, but healing this fight on a priest with Spirit of Redemption causes me problems.

Every time I die in phase 3, and I turn into the spirit, I die suspended in the air near the portal once it's worn off. I cannot release my spirit, and when I get rezed, I cannot move at all and need to restart my client. It's absolutely ridiculous and annoying. Anyone else get that problem? Comment by Here's a few tips if you're trying to beat the enrage timer on this boss. If you're running three tanks trying running two tanks instead.

The man version requires you to have four tanked ads meaning that at some point one tank would have to tank at least two ads. The extra DPS gained means bursting through this encounter easier without meeting the gear requirements. My guild's first kill almost everyone but me was terribly undergeared, we used one tank myself I rounded up all the ads and had people assist off me and watch threat on other ads.

Pre-assign a discs order for P2. You want to load up as many ranged as possible on this fight but make sure to bring your highest DPS regardless. Melee go up one at a time in the set order If you have to choose between a prot warrior going up and a caster you should probably choose the prot warrior the extra sunders added to the scions will help hunters on the groud and melee in the sky.

In phase three have everyone stack on one set location. We use three healers total for this phase freeing up 4 more people to DPS. If everyone is stacked properly lifeburst heals everyone and there's never a need for any excessive amount of healers.

Comment by carldudut ok peeps this is my secret how to heal in malygos as holy paladin! At this time chuck your Beacon of Light on the tank then Holy Shock yourself!

If you do it quick enough you could chuck 2x Holy Shock at that air phase. While wait for your Holy Shock cooldown which is 6 seconds, target Malygos and chuck Judgement of Light. After Vortex finish all of your raid member will be fall in the same spot or aka stack up. At this time as soon as possible use Holy Light on yourself is compulsory to have Glyph of Holy Light.

Depending on your haste, how many holy light you can use as soon possible before people spread out. Myself can throw 2 Holy Light. Third Phase This phase basically focus on using your drake really well. You could do the Wyrmrest Dailies in Coldara which helps a lot on the fight. Usually raid stack up together when this phase come out so when they all on drake, they will be all stack up and you can follow them if you don't know what to do. Comment by asloversgo Malygos seems to be the only dragon whose "wing-skin" reaches down the tail.

Edit: I stand corrected. Cyanigosa and Azuregos also has it, as Drunkard says! Comment by Tips for 10man Malygos This boss proved a lot more difficult than I believed due to the usual "he's cakewalk" comments My guild wiped for 3 days before finally downing him on the 3rd.

This was on 10man. I am told 25man is easier. Here's a few suggestions for anyone who might be stuck. Phase 1: -Hits the MT for k dmg per swing. Melee swing is slow. Let your healers be aware. Even with combined spark buffs, we downed him 5 secs after enrage. Our raid setup was: 1 tank me, Have the entire raid stack on the very middle of the area, while the tank brings Malygos to the edge of the inner ring, right where the outer ring starts. The tank needs to be completely aware of his surroundings to see where sparks come from.

When a spark spawns, he needs to kite Malygos around the edge of the inner ring just follow the line, it's simple to position him so that the raid is between him and the spark. One right after and one while you fight.

While the raid is in the Vortex, locate any incoming sparks, and have the tank position Malygos immediatly after everyone lands. If done correctly, the raid just has to run to the center after each votex.

ALL dps nuke these down first. Don't split the dps, as you need to take the Lords out of the fight asap to reduce the raid's damage intake. The only exceptions are the hunters, who should only attack the Scions on the disks if they can't attack the Nexus Lord due to minimum range.

If you're a prot warrior, Improved Spell Reflect will save your raid member's life when running from one anti-magic zone to the next, as you will reflect the Scion's spells.

Also useful to help out the healers. Use it on EVERY cooldown if possible, time it so you have it available when people run from bubble to bubble. Just keep an eye out for the lightning clouds you'll see Malygos shoot a spark at the grp , stay grouped up, and keep the DoT up. Hope this helped. Comment by Taleron A quick note to Prot Warriors out there, but you may want to watch out for your spell reflect and party reflect skills on this fight in phase 2. It can be really handy, but it could prove dangerous too: On one of our attempts, our MT for the group had party reflect up to protect against the Scions' Arcane Barrage attacks.

We had to resort to huddling the whole raid inside a space the size of a shoebox until we got another one. My assumption is that the protection bubble that Malygos fired came close enough that if it landed, it would've triggered the knockback effect that they have when they expand, and that caused the bubble spell to be reflected.

It's not a horrible thing as long as you have some kind of bubble to stay in, but if the already existing ones are getting pretty small you could end up in real trouble by having a reflect up at a bad moment. Comment by This might be a little off-topic but i have to add that the animation of the ground splitting was a cool idea on blizzards part, same with the flying discs that the DPS use in the air. When you get the fight down, it's extremely fun.

Comment by killed him yesterday, from a resto druid pov man phase 1 healing is pretty straightforward: start putting lifeblooms on raid when he starts the animation for cyclones, u can use instants even during it so its really easy, wildgrowth was hitting only 2 ppl while in air, use it after the raid lands, tank healing is easy too, just make sure he is topped before malygos does its breath phase 2 is a bit frustating: the problem with phase 2 is the random targeting of the scion of eternity ability, when the raid is changing spot and is vulnerable, if someone is unlucky and get hit 2 times in a very short time he is likely to kiss the floor, it is imperative that u react very fast and keep everyone topped off innervate before it starts, u want full mana and u dont need it for phase 3 make use of Nourish!

Comment by After about 3 hours of wipeing, we finally killed him last night. In phase 2 we kept the melee dps to kill the mobs on the ground, while the ranged dps took the disks and killed the ranged mobs. Comment by Yes, scroll up.

No info on how to avoid it yet other then not die. Comment by Hunters might want to sit out for this fight. I've had nothing but trouble in the repeated attempts at this fight. During repeated clears of Naxx10 and other raid content in LK, I've almost always been 1st or 2nd dps, but Malygos really requires close quarters dps, which a hunter isn't capable of providing. Coupled with the fact that hunter pets have a bad habit of glitching after the first vortex, you become almost useless as far as DPS is concerned.

Keeping yourself in range for sparks is equally as hard because of its rather large hit box. Basically, if you're a hunter, you better hope the rest of your raid can make up for your severely stunted dps. Hopefully blizz realizes that pets glitch and the spark radius is crap and hunters get a bit of a help out here sometime. Comment by Think I was quite thorough with the comments above, and couldn't see anything on this.

Has anyone encountered difficulties on using your fire shield? On two separate encounters I remember that it did not activate despite having at least combo points and Malygos targeted. At first I thought I had too little energy, but the 2nd time I made sure I had enough.

Has anyone else come across this? Comment by First to people who have trouble with the fire shield: If you target Malygos during the transition from Phase 2 to Phase 3 you must untarget him once you get on your drake or Fire Shield will not cast. Not sure if that's being fixed in the next patch or not, but it's an easy enough thing to get by.

Also, during the transition from Phase 2 to 3 make sure to cast Curse of the Elements on Malygos. Once you get those 15 stacks up and you're doing 28k ticks you'll be glad it's up.

If all of the Melee have a disk and there's still extra disks left over in Phase 2, feel free to get on one. You can cast while moving around and avoid the breath. Comment by Mahtamori I hate giving second hand information, but apparently the encounter has been changed to prevent multiple sparks, possibly even increasing the range at which the sparks are swallowed. The change has also lead to an increase in the timer in the associated achievement, so that it's more doable.

I'm writing this on patch day eu , so feel free to down-rate my post and confirm whether this is accurate or not. Comment by dunno if i have to lower my graphics or something but at phase3 the whole room is brightly coloured like petrol on concrete around me and every video i saw was pitch black Comment by TheSteelPhantom As of 3.

So for anyone who used to do this Malygos is not targettable in Phase 3 until after the red drakes catch you and he's done with his Yell emote. It may just be me or does anyone agree with me that Malygos is totaly lacking originailty and the old school raiding spirit? I meen comon guys, think back to Blackwing Lair and AQ 40 ect. Would you not rather be dodging C'thuns Eye beam lazas than doing a Boss Which has the same moves as a Daily qest mob?

And dont you miss the time when you had to actualy get off your ass and do something to get some epixs. Now its allways gear before skills, cos half the bosses post TBC dont require any require any of the skill that was a nescesaty back in the days of 40 man raids. Surly, blizzard, you can think of a more exciting, memorable fight for one of the 5 dragon aspects!

I meen , look at kalecgos in the sunwell for instance. Malygos is his Ruler and yet, kalecgos has a far more complicated stratagy, and I for one loved fighting him and killing that bastard of a deamon in him! So , is there anyone else out there who misses the pre TBC days? Martacus out! So I guesss this message is basically saying "Know your class abilities!

Comment by kenn Just a quick note for people having issues post 3. Try dismissing all pets, worked tonight for my guild after a few unexplained wipes. Comment by The guild my friend is in has a strange strategy for Phase 1. I've tried to convince him that it is purely luck that it works, but I'd like confirmation on that. They say, standing in a spark will prevent you from getting hit by his Arcane Breath.

This isn't something I'd like to actually test. So hopefully, somebody could clear this up for me. Comment by I agree with kenn We had same issue , pets took the debuff and they had kill the raid.

Comment by You cannot use Circle of Healing in the Vortex anymore since 3. Made Malygos alot harder. Comment by Why does Malygos sound like a Blood Elf?

Comment by Keranna Pets no longer seem to be bugged during vortex - I've noticed that mine despawns when we're all up in the air, and then comes back out right as I land. No issues with him sticking anymore, which is great.

We identified a bug preventing Circle of Healing and Wild Growth from being able to find targets in Vortex. It was not our intent that these heals be prevented during Vortex beyond the nerf we already made to prevent them from being spammed. We should be able to fix this in the next couple of days. Comment by SilverEye Power Sparks can be tracked like Elementals Arcane element , i can see where the spark is , shot a concusive and call for kill, with a good timing the stack is for sure.

Was it something I said? Comment by Reunilana Known bugs in Patch 3. Comment by Has anyone else noticed that you're able in some cases to zone into the fight during phase 3? I've been able to reproduce it sometimes and think that you either have to release during phase 3 or re-enter as a ghost during phase 3 releasing and re-entering during phase 2 gives you back your body and makes you unable to zone in until malygos is killed or despawns. I got a drake right as he despawned earlier tonight and managed to fight him in phase 1 on it, doing a whopping Comment by You might try this Addon if you keep wiping in phase 3.

Comment by Magnett Best. Voice acting. To employ magic? Against me? In this realm, I am in control! Pledge fealty to me, and perhaps I won't slaughter you for your insolence! I will be rid of you! Nonetheless, your efforts are in vain. It is you reckless, careless mortals who are to blame for this war! If you intend to reclaim Azeroth's magic, then you shall have it. How very My power is infinite! My sister Comment by Tripix There are many confuses about this spell. While fighting with Malygos best way to deal with healing is assign two players on normal and four or five for heroic for AoE heals only.

Easiest way to heal is keeping 5 stacks of Revivify on themselfs, stack 5 combo points by spamming Revivify on self and then cast Life Burst. The more combo points you stack the bigger heal is. And most major issue is to all drakes stay close to themselfs. They should stay in one big group, and when Malygos cast AoE spell they should all move a bit. Good way to have proper position is to stick to clock hours 12 - 9 - 6 - 3 etc.

Comment by LatroVir Malygos is voiced by Cam Clarke , whom you may have noticed voices a few other characters in World of Warcraft as well Comment by leonheart87 Malygos is a strange fellow.

Seeks to destroy all mortal life for fear they will use magic in a bad way, yet he allows his followers the scions in phase 2, some in the Azure Dragonshrine to use magic. Unless they are another breed of elf, which hasn't lost it's immortality, he is going against everything he was fighting for.

Wonder who will replace him as the ruler of the Blue Dragonflight, can't be many Blue Dragons left, we seem to kill alot of them. Wowwiki only lists 6 as being alive, with 1 whelp. Comment by Button-jammers of the world rejoice. For the rest of us, this encounter is hell. Have your therapist's number handy. Comment by Until patch 3. Right before vortex I make sure to have Sacred Shield on everyone in the raid 10m version. It will proc 2x during the vortex for approx.

Combined with heals available 2 holy shocks, 2 proc'd instant flash of lights and using your beacon of light intelligently, a holy paladin is a great healer for malygos.

I see many ppl claim that they are useless for that fight, well those ppl have no knowledge of the class. When 3. IMO in 3. This will bring the strategy back to healing as a paladin. Comment by Rattja There seem to be a bug in the second phase, he seem to sometimes come down and start attacking the raid with melee.

This wiped us today, and I wonder. Do anyone know what triggers this, or why it happens? Oh and you can't target him so tanking him threw this bug, or whatever you want to call it, is impossible. Hope this get fixed in the upcoming patch. Comment by "I had hoped to end your lives quickly, but you have proven more It it you reckless, careless mortals who are to blame for this war!

I do what I must, and if it means your extinction What do you think it will do to you? Comment by Darthmrkew I am very sad what happened to all aspects.

Nozdormu betrayed. Neltharion betrayed. Malygos betrayed. Ysera is sleeping. Alexstrasza didn't prevent what happened at wrathgate. Comment by realy the red dragons sould have tryed some way to cure him.

Comment by How much dps should one do before attempting Maly? Comment by Baby Spice can make a tank's job a whole lot easier if they're new to the encounter. It allows them to see where the sparks are more easily without a giant dragon blocking their view.

Comment by starsword From the 3. Comment by If you use auto-self cast then be sure to target your own drake to cast Revivify or else you will not be able to cast Life Burst at all. Comment by How can you get combo points from the normal HoT of the drakes since in the aces high daily it doesn't give combo points?

Comment by RipperGand Another relevant Lore character Blizzard kills, and if that wasn't enough, Malygos gets killed by Alexstraza and by 10 random adventurers Same happened with Illidan Stormrage. If you check his lore, he battled Arthas, even if he was defeated, he still did, he became a demon, he was imprisioned for 10 thousand years, he battled an army of the Scourge along with Tyrande and his brother, and died when 25 guys decided going in his fortress Black Temple and kill him I am just saying my opinion, I know this is going to be downrated though Comment by Axonn That's not really relevant, but I cannot leave one of the coolest characters ever created by Blizz be treated like that!

When dps died, she berzerked for my group when we were almost done killing the adds. Comment by agentex50 I really don't know why everyone says hunters are useless for Maly. Also, pet doesn't bug phase 1 but it DOES bug phase 2, which isn't a big deal as your targets are in midair.

I've Pugged this 5 times to date. Problem with phase 3 is that many people aren't able to focus as much as you would expect, and end up sitting in sparks and dying. Granted this doesn't apply to guilds that are doing ToC 10man and so forth, but again not many guilds raiding that content go back and kill Maly. Still, if you can get the people for it, it can and should be an easy fight. Good luck to everyone going after this guy, it is very rewarding to see him go down!

Comment by Trick: The sparks can be "pulled" to your DPS with Death Grip, so it advisable to have a pre-assigned stack location for your raid, and have a Death Knight pull the sparks to that spot. Comment by frostbolt 1 of the coolest boss on wow! Comment by PotatoKing Are there anything later that proves Malygos' death or did he just fall down but still alive?

Just wanna know. Comment by The Dragon Aspects don't have it easy. One goes insane and helps the legion, and the other one needs to be killed for some reason. That would mean that all the dragonflights will try to destroy the world. That is gonna be fun. Comment by Don't know why, but I've never seen any helpful macros for phase 3 of Malygos encounter. That way you will never have to change target from Malygos. With the simple rotation and that macro I went from dying upon second focus to top damage done every or almost every time I did the encounter so far.

Comment by Bareno Anyone know if 3. Comment by Hmm Wonder what they mean by the fact that Alexstrasza's Gift has been opened times? Comment by Even with people pulling under 3k DPS and a couple people pulling well above that , the first two stages are cake in a man raid.

The third stage, on the other hand, is more difficult. All of the healers should spam All of the DPS should spam or However, classes must watch their energy conservation to make sure they have enough energy to pull off a shield, especially in 10m where there are fewer targets.

All drakes must remain stacked and, when someone is targeted, the group should move left of that person until they are out of range of the AoE. The person who is targeted DBM covers telling you who it is should immediately build up 2 combo points and cast the shield. For 10m, we found it best to have a DPSer heal whilst on the drake.

Basically, phase 3 is passable by moving left or right, left is what we chose when someone is zapped, and spamming the above cycles. We managed to down him with about 7 out of 10 people still alive in the end.

Comment by Darkomicron I'd like to try and clarify this. These 5 dragon aspects of each flight blue, red, green, black and bronze, respectively with the order of the aspects named above were the mightiest of their kind.

Dragons are very 'close' so to say, they call each other brother and sister because they are equal to each other. Another term dragons might use is 'my brood'. In short, Neltharion got corrupted by a great evil supposedly the Old Gods he created 'the dragon soul' which later became known as the demon soul. The purpose of this Dragon Soul was to decimate the demonic army razing over Azeroth This was at the time of the first invasion of the burning legion.

Every dragon contributed his or her part into the Dragon Soul. However, the dragons didn't expect so see one of their mightiest turn on them, and Neltharion used the Dragon Soul to attack the races of Azeroth, trying to defend their home. Then he attacked the dragons with it.

When he got distracted by an attack of a lonely dragon the blue dragon flight broke loose of his bounds and tried to contain Neltharion later known as Deathwing He'll be the new Cataclysm boss Neltharion, using the Demon Soul, decimated the Blue flight, and threw Malygos far over the horizon.

Malygos became insane after seeing his flight decimated, it would take decennia to restore the blue dragon flight to it's former glory. Edit: poster below Mealstrom might also spoil War of the Ancients lore in his post. Comment by In my opinion it was stupid that they killed off Malygos, should have just had him brought back to reality and redeemed.

Next expansion will see the return of Deathwing, and Malygos was Deathwing's closest friend before the pair of them went mad, would have been highly relevant to have Malygos participate in the battle against Deathwing. I'm sure this is not intended. I've heard other people reporting this. Edit: Why downrank? This is a bug, people should be aware of it. Comment by I think it was a mistake by Blizzard letting us kill him, farm him and making him be a weekly quest. I wish he did survive to Cataclysm, so we could watch an epic encounter between him and Deathwing.

Long live Malygos! You will never be forgotten! Comment by Jeknar That old dragon guy have beard! Comment by Supahtoons Anyone have a clue as to if the drakes have a cap on the item level scaling? I'm wondering if Cata gear makes this even easier than it was. For what it's worth, Malygos man will be soloable by a DK within a tier or two of gear.

I was able to solo him all the way to phase 3, but hit enrage just as phase 3 started. With some better gear and a bit more optimal play with sparks it should be possible to get into phase 3 with about 2 minutes left, enough to kill him. The fight is -extremely- difficult to solo to that point though.

You must get every single spark in order to do enough DPS to get out of phase 1 in a timely manner. A DK is the only class that can adequately do this. The incoming arcane damage in phase 1 can be heavily mitigated through prismatic elixir, tol barad trinket and anti-magic shell. Phase 2 is the most difficult part. The Nexus Lords don't hit terribly hard and are easily downed, however the Scion adds will kill you very quickly once you're on a disc and outside the protective shields.

In phase 3 a self-sustain rotation 1 1 2 3 should probably be sufficient to survive all incoming damage with high enough ilevel from gear, and will build up 20 stacks reliably.

Assuming you can make it into phase 3 with roughly 2. Comment by citrique Amusing tidbit I discovered in soloing attempts: If you hit berserk in phase 2, the scion adds don't appear to berserk correctly. While I can hardly recommend anyone use this method to bypass the enrage timer, it does technically work. Comment by HelloKitty I had considered this as well. Not only that, but look at who appears to be spearheading all of the attacks? Malygos's "fall" seemed rather contrived.

He was an ancient hero and I feel as though we didn't do him much justice in slaying him. If anything, he seemed rather convinced that he was doing Azeroth good, and we gave him little time to explain.

His choppy lore can be tossed up with Illidan as "righteous slaughter" without so much merit, honestly. Alexstrasza was the key figure in attacking Malygos, and now the same with Deathwing.

I mean, of course, Deathwing has had previous attacks on the dragonflight and his 'cataclysm' debut certainly isn't painting a very innocent picture. Additionally, even back in the BWL days the black dragonflight was all-around pretty gruesome. But it's been a suspicion of mine now, for a long time, that Alexstrasza is a key figure in killing the other dragons. Think about it - she spearheaded the slaying of Malygos, and now she is opportunistically spearheading the assault against Deathwing.

What happens next expansion? The Emerald Dream is a likely next target. What can we do there? The most obvious choice is to rid it of 'corruption. Could it be, perhaps, that Alexstrasza is pulling all the strings, here? Maybe she is, in fact, out to kill all of the other dragons, and manipulating the "heroes" into doing her bidding for her? Deathwing was dormant for a long time after his lack unsuccessful attempt on Alexstrasza's life, so maybe she just couldn't get to him sooner.

Now that she can, she'll take her opportunity. What if she is the one organizing the corruption in the emerald dream, and will later tell players to slay Ysera under some bull! And, finally, what if she is possibly manipulating the infinite dragonflight Or, perhaps, influencing Nozdormu to lead it , only to later point the finger at Nozdormu and say HE was the one pulling the strings, telling us to slay him?

Entirely speculation, but I wouldn't put it past Blizzard to think that far ahead and consider the various possibilities, especially judging by how shady the Malygos kill was. Comment by TehFacroller This has to be the trippiest encounter ever. Keep the pet up und try to kill the sparks to get the Dmgbuffzones.

After every Vortex i got aggro, so i had to use Feign Death. Problem: the pet ist somtimes low on health like after dismounting. Ruined several attempts. Dmg stop right before an Vortex or 2 stacking dmgbuffzones are very helpful use Rapidfire P2: Really tough. You get dmg per bolt by the Scions, but, as not bosslevel, they miss a lot.

Allways stay in the shildzones und bringt the adds down as fast as possible. I noticed; the Scions stop attacking you for a while, after using Feign Death. Looks buggie, but helped a lot. P3: Dmg race. I used the 1,1,2,3 rota stated above and stacked 5 hot stacks before Malygos was attackable again. Avoid the Static Fields before they even hit you once and you should be able to kill him. I used no other ability und i hardly downed him.

I had roughly 20k left as he died. Important: The Dragon in P3 scales with your Itemlevel. I was extremely lucky and got the Reins of the Azure Drake in this first run. Besides the Achievement "a poke in the eye" for killing him with less than 9 Player obviously.

Good luck to everyone out there and happy farming. Please excuse mistakes in the English language Comment by Crazyrussian Just 10manned 25 version in a pug. P3 is where people start dying, what you do is as soon as you get mounted, spam 3 the heal up to 5 stacks, when Maly becomes attackable do the rotation the entire fight and stay out of stuff, easy.

Comment by comments and nobody posted how much gold he drops, its gold on 25man. Can easily kill with people who know what to do, happy mount farming. Comment by remikskr With the release of 4. Comment by citrique As I figured, this is now soloable on man by a blood DK. This boss is -barely- doable in this level of gear however, my equipped ilevel is The only reason it is now doable is the death strike damage buff, which makes phase 1 go much more quickly.

To do this boss: Pull with army. AMS the breath as often as possible. You will slowly rotate around Malygos with this method. Do not move more than you need to, as you may rotate all the way around to a previous Static Field if you are too fast. Everyone will follow that player automatically and can focus on healing or burning Malygos without other concerns like range for healers or avoiding Static Field. Due to the above method of Shielding, DPS drakes should ensure they are using 5-combo-point Engulf Flames on the target.

This means their Engulf stack will stay up for a long time, so they can use any current combo points they have to Shield themselves instantly when targeted, then quickly refresh their Engulf before it times off. All drakes should also pretend that the bottom limit for their energy is If you have self control and never go below 25 energy, you will always have enough energy to cast a Flame Shield on yourself.

Another VERY effective drake DPS strategy for advanced players is using Engulf Flames at 3 combo points, making your debuff stack up even faster, however this is more energy consuming and requires a lot more energy management.

The trick is to do 3 Flame Spikes, cast Engulf Flames, and wait until your revivify is at 1 second before renewing your revivify stack, then pump out your 3 combos and another Engulf Flames. When Malygos uses his Arcane Surge on you, you will most likely be waiting to restack your revivify. Stack it twice on yourself, and use your shield once he casts it. This will save you some combo points, and try shooting 2-combo-point Engulf Flames as fast as possible after, then go back to waiting revivify to hit 1 second.

The reason you need to wait so much is so you don't stay low energy and have enough energy to use your shield fast enough. The main trick is to not panic while doing it.

You can take your time since revivify lasts 10 seconds, so basically you have 10 seconds to cast your 3 spikes and your engulf and revivify. This rotation racks up severe damage, a lot more than 5-combos Engulf Flames can, since the number of combo points only affect its duration. First Time Maly Kill - Tips. The tactics above assume that your raid has good coordination and all of them play correctly.

However, as any raid leader knows you have to come up with a technique of coping with the members of your group who slack. For our first Maly kill we used a different tactic in phase 3. The works fine if you have around mins left when phase 3 starts, but on your first kill you are likely to have closer to If you have all 10 people left alive, quickly designate 2 healers. Their job is simply - AoE heal! The 8 DPS should follow the tactic , etc. Since combo points only determine how long the DoT is there for, the method allows you to stack your DoT a lot faster.

This means Malygos is likely to be taking double damage in half the time. The only downside being, if you get surged, you may have to take a tick or 2 before you have the energy to pop your shield. The main thing to remember is - even if the enrage triggers, it ain't over yet!

Malygos has no real AoE pwnage in phase 3, and so must kill each drake individually. The remaining drakes have around 2—3 seconds to spam 1 and get their final DoT off. By this time there should be around 8 DoTS on Malygos, all with around 10 stacks and hitting Malygos hard - this DoT keeps ticking even when he enrages, as long as their is a drake left alive. On our first kill, we had k left to do when he enraged and the DoTS did that while we fled, hopelessly being picked off one by one.

ALL raid leaders should note that if your group CAN reach phase 3, they are geared for this raid, and it's simply a matter of refining the technique. There are a number of tricks and bugs associated with this fight that can cause aggravation if not addressed:. Then you just burn him until the end of the fight, where Alexstrasza enters and finishes the battle. The loot for the fight comes from Alexstrasza's Gift , the fight rewards two badges. The exit portal respawns, and you can fly over to it.

This is a very fast mount. Rather it's an object of incredible power that Alexstrasza retrieved from his body.
