Kenwood d700 aprs setup

Most common symbols:. If you have a weather station Davis, Peet Brothers, Radio Shack, etc at your home or remoted station, we want to see the weather data every 15 minutes. Not more, not less.

The extra "hop" helps ensure that the wx data gets to the nearest iGate, which insures delivery to regional NWS stations. Hooking up a home weather station and integrating it with APRS means you must have two available serial ports on your computer; one for the TNC, and the other for the WX station.

If you operate either the Kenwood TH-D7A or TM-D, you know how easy it is to reach over and change the periodicity of your transmissions, and the outgoing path. These are very versatile radios, and easy to program "on the fly".

I have successfully tracked with ms and ms. Up to ms of time savings may not seem like much, but it does add up. Moving from ms to ms the minimum I believe is certainly noticeable when monitoring on frequency.

There are several other options, all aimed at size-reduction, for making a tracker. The smallest of these is about the size of a 9-volt battery, while the largest is still smaller than a pack of Lucky Strikes non-filtered, of course. All these devices are designed to either fit inside another key component, like a GPS or radio case, and work towards making a smaller, lighter, tracker.

These work great for backpack, balloon, vehicle, or rocket trackers, and several of them work off of volts. In any case, you typically program these devices externally with a PC, then set them on their way. With exception of the Mic-E and TigerTrak, once programmed, they cannot be changed enroute. Your default settings are determined by the type of operation you are using them in, and will vary accordingly. I can't even get it to operate while in this mode. I made a special adapter for power, computer input, and TM-D and that is was?

I purchased a cable that eliminates the need for the adaptor box. This cable has the four-prong Garmin plug on one end and leads to the DC power outlet a la cigatette lighter , a serial port for the laptop , and a miniplug for the TM-D When traveling, my wife prefers the Nuvi. I prefer using the laptop for navigation so the GPS does it all and the Nuvi stays in the glove box. I have not thoroughly tested it, but I don't think the USB port on the Nuvi outputs navigation information--it's there for updates and power.

AD7DH , Aug 25, The best I've been able to do is get it to appear on my laptop as an "External Storage Device" and upload different vehicle icons to it. I hate having to haul 2 separate GPS units on the bike or backpack, and would love being able to use the color Nuvi tracking bicycle trails etc. W5AOX , Apr 24, I have a DA that I installed in my company truck to keep me company when going from town to town and have been looking for a turn by turn gps to interface with it.

Looks like I may have found a solution. W9HDG , May 28, K7ZMC , May 6, A Garmin Nuvi will get you on-screen posits from other aprs stations with the G-Trans cable. That is what I am running. The other Nuvi's will not delete the waypoints off the screen like the You will need this cable and this gps not a recomended seller, an example.
