Installing backup camera silverado

Anyways, instead of fumbling around with a voltmeter checking the signal with the truck in reverse, I thought someone might have any idea where to look. I've searched the threads on several websites, and most say it's a light green cable, but I want to know where to search for it.

On my there is a main junction block under the dash next to the parking brake. Take off the retaining nut and remove the cover. Basically this is the same place you would plug your connector in for electric trailer brakes. Also I've been told that there is a reverse wire in the harness for the rearview mirror, to cancel out the selfdimming feature when in reverse, never did check to see if this was true.

Like I said this is where it was on my so Im not sure if it would be the same for you, but I would think it would be. Hope this helps. I wouldn't see why it wouldn't be the same. I think the trucks changed from and up, so I think are the same. Not sure about the rear view mirror myself, but I'd rather go straight to the electric trailer brakes than the mirror.

Thanks for the help! I'll post pics of the install as soon as I can get to it I was going to do it today, but wouldn't you know it, it started raining here in northern california. Since the image displayed on the screen is actually a composite image from several different camera views, there are limits on optical angles that work with the system. The camera must be mounted in a tight dimensional space, relative to the height of the camera on your tailgate on the rear centerline.

My only regret was mounting it on the roof because i didnt know it had to be tailgate height. Camera works great, no complaints about picture. Thanks All! That information was very helpful.

Now I just have to hope my truck gets fixed and doesn't see any more issues. Because I really want to like this new , but confidence in it vs. I have the camera and no truck yet. Just ordered the truck last week, ordered the camera separately based on the info found here and another thread. My trailer is 22" longer than what the owner's manual says for maximum length, hoping it will still work for transparent trailer.

If not, it will be great to just see anything back there. The camera cable seems to be well protected. I am not sure why they are so adamant about routing it over the top, shouldn't be too hard to protect it underneath. You can post now and register later. On a Silverado, removing the panels near the base of each passenger side door should be a convenient place to run the wires. This is usually located to the bottom left of the steering wheel.

Mount the Monitor The next step is mounting your monitor. It may be one that mounts to your rearview mirror or one that mounts to your dashboard. In either event, following the mounting instructions that come with the device is your best bet. If all else fails, this backup camera installation guide can be very helpful. You may also need to run a trigger wire up to your monitor, or even power it through the same source as the backup camera.

Again models will vary. See the guide linked above for good instructions on how to do this. All you need to do now is mount the camera itself to the back of your license plate or trunk, connect the appropriate wires RCA and power and you should be ready to go!

What could go wrong while installing a Silverado backup camera? Give yourself enough slack, and splice in cable if you need to. It might be worth consulting with a mechanic in this instance before you install the camera.
