Removing gnome-control-center actually fixed my problem. As soon as I re-installed it my network started disconnecting again. Removed it once again, problem was solved. IMAO, the commands you were given had too many continuations to the next line because they were short enough to fit on one line. It sure confused me when I first started many years ago.
