Parent Review 3y ago. Gatlinburg Pittman High School. Jones Cove Elementary School. My child has attended this school for kindergarten and first grade. My opinion is that the staff try to be more like friends with the children rather than an authority figure.
I feel as if the curriculum is the absolute basic that is out there. The SRO stands out in front of the school doors while smoking.
I understand that this is a very small community and most people know one another around here but I thought all public schools have to abide by the same general rules. This school functions by it's own book of rules. Word of advice, if you have a choice, choose a different school.
Thankfully my child will not be attending after this school year. Parent Review 5y ago. Northview Elementary School. We LOVE this school because they really get involved with their students. They treat each and everyone exactly the same no teacher pets as we called it.

Anytime I've been there I've found kids wandering the school with no supervision. My son's teacher lost track of him for over 15 minutes on more than 3 occasions. The vice principal is barely intelligent enough to speak a sentence and the counselors themselves will tell you they're underqualified.
I think the staff needs an education worse than the students! Needless to say, our son has been transferred. Pi Beta Phi Elementary School. Pi Beta Phi is an International school. Students from so many different cultures interact with each other everyday. That is one thin I love about the school. The world is changing so much, that our students need to learn how to relate with people that looks and talks different from your household.
The staff is dedicated to the success of the students and always go beyond their duties to help students be their best. Most of the people I have dealt with are rude. They ask for the numbers they should call in case of children getting sick a million times, it seems like , and then the time comes to use said numbers and they don't even call the right numbers.
The teacher that my child had last year was all sunshine and happiness and said she just loved our child , in front of us, but when we weren't there she was telling my daughter that she was a bad kid.
Would not recommend this school to anyone, unless you are rich and then they don't have any problem with you. Parent Review 4y ago. Seymour Primary School. My son attended here a year ago for his Kindergarten year. His teacher gave him bad behavior marks often when I asked why, I received written reasons like "smiled at a fellow student while walking to desk" and "crossed his eyes during story time" Then he was expected to do homework he couldn't do.
I spent like 2 hours trying to teach him in the evenings but the curriculum and time restraint made it hard to help him catch up. During his kindergarten year, he seemed to even forget some of what I had taught him and became frustrated and discouraged. Then, he set back on some faulty playground equipment and got a 1" bleeding gash in his head that had to have 2 staples.
No apology from the school. They act like everything learning, injuries are the kids' or parents' fault. I pulled him out for 1st grade and homeschooled him. I had him tested afterwards and he is at 1st grade reading level and 2nd grade math level.
I wouldn't send my kids to this school if I were you! Seymour High School. Good, my children have done very well academically. The choir is rated best in all state competitions. It is a separate wing just for the Freshman so they can get familiar with the high school environment for one year before dealing with all the "big" kids and craziness!
